A Drool Friendly Family Photo Album
For our toddler’s birthday last year my parents sent a lovely “gift box” full of treats that all seemed to be just that “perfect” thing for us. By far my favorite - was the Gund Photo Albumthey sent. It is a thickly laminated album especialy produced for children and it is washable which means that it nicely stands up to sticky fingers, drool, and quite a lot of abuse. Ours is still going, so yes, it is still one of mom’s favorites.

Favorite New Children’s Books
Our son recently turned two, and he received some great items for his birthday. One of our favorites are several “hide & slide” books from Priddy. At night our son now rushes to bed because he wants to get back to his new set of books. His favorite? Probably all of them - but for now the Slide and Find - Colors wins!

Great Baby & Toddler Books from Begin Smart
Some of Mom’s Favorite things are toys & books that are educationally sound. We recently received a package of books in the mail from Begin Smart and were intrigued to see if these would pass this mom (and her family’s) muster. After tearing apart the box, our toddler fell into deep concentration with what he obviously was claiming as “his new” book, Moo! Moo! What Are You? - a book that emphasizes the names of animals and textures.
When I first heard of the company Begin Smart, I liked the idea behind it - that kids (and their parents) read books that encourage a child’s development. They publish books for infants and toddlers, and a DVD accompanies many of their books, which reminds parents of the different developmental capacities the child has at a particular age. This company has received a lot of positive publicity lately, with a recent article in Reuters and numerous other reviews. At Mom’s Favorite, we think this is a company with promise, and a great way to start your child’s learning in a “smart way.”

Great Books for Inquiring Little Minds
We are always on the look-out for great kids books. As I have explained elsewhere, books are one treat that we all can’t live without. As all of our friends know this, we recently received two great kid books as gifts that are fast becoming new family favorites. The first is a picture book from Priddy called First 100 Words.
This book has so far proven durable, colorful, educational and very entertaining for our toddler.
The other set of books is Baby Einstein Alphabooks
which are 26 individual little books for each letter of the alphabet. Hopefully, both of these will stand the test of time, as we love the lessons they teach for inquiring little minds.
Favorite Children’s Books
What are some of “mom’s favorite” children books?
What counts as some of “mom’s favorite” children’s books? Of course anything that passes the baby, toddler, and child test; but I am always looking for books that are educational, reasonable, and durable! Some of our family’s favorites are classics, some are fresh and new, and others are really unique. Although we love to go into bookstores, we usually only scout out what we want there and then go home and order them through Amazon. Why? Because within two days we receive the same book for almost half the price, it teaches the whole family to have a little patience, it saves gas money, and it gives us something to look forward to.
So here are some of our favorites:
Unique Books
Our favorite book of all time, is a personalized one that we received for our son’s birthday. It is called “My Very Own Name” from www.iseeme.com. Go to www.iseeme.com to find more wonderful personalized children’s books which actually incorporate the child’s particular name into the story of the book. We have ordered several of their items for our friends, and they adore them!
Fresh & New
Yes some books should only be pulled out on special occasions and some are simply classics, but recently we have found quite a few books that have added a bit of variety to our collection of children’s books. Many of these “books” aren’t quite books, but instead take a different and fresh approach to books - putting books in the form of puzzles, stacking boxes, or pairing books with music. Here are some of the fresh & new books our family loves:
Classic Books
Here are some of the classic books we love for our baby & toddler. All of these books pass the baby, toddler, child, and mommy test!

Road Trip!
I recently wrote about mom’s favorite “smart snacking” in the car or on the go. But when you are in the car for eight or more hours, you just don’t need food, you definitely need entertainment. This mom has some favorite items to keep little minds active and boredom at bay. They include audio books, regular books, and a few interactive toys:
