A Really Useful Baby Gift!

January 13th, 2010

So we have recently had a second child (yes another boy), and so many people have given us delightful gifts. I have been shocked at how much the “baby world” has changed since our first was born. When we went back to one of those huge baby stores I hardly recognized anything. There were so many new designs, fads, and ideas, that we felt almost as overwhelmed as we did the first time around. One item that stuck out, and that we were given by several people were Angel Dears, a lovely cuddly friend that our son keeps hugging, loving, and grabbing. We love them so much we are happy we were given two!

The Cutest Bunny Family Baby Gift

November 17th, 2009

People are always asking me what baby gifts I recommend. I understand their problem, because when you have to buy a baby gift you might not know what the family wants, desires, or needs. I have numerous suggestions for baby gifts (I have a lot of friends having babies!). One that sticks out, is one that we received two years ago and is still going. It is a Bunny Family enamel dish set from the Golden Rabbit. This has withstood washing, throwing, dropping, banging, and having food left on it for long periods of time. The Golden Rabbit carries various children’s dish-sets in their Babyware line and all of them are proven to be lead-free, come gift wrapped, and are unique. Any gift that keeps giving has got to be one of mom’s favorites!

A Drool Friendly Family Photo Album

September 7th, 2009

For our toddler’s birthday last year my parents sent a lovely “gift box” full of treats that all seemed to be just that “perfect” thing for us. By far my favorite – was the Gund Photo Albumthey sent. It is a thickly laminated album especialy produced for children and it is washable which means that it nicely stands up to sticky fingers, drool, and quite a lot of abuse. Ours is still going, so yes, it is still one of mom’s favorites.

Sleek, Durable, and Portable Baby Gear

August 29th, 2009

We recently went on vacation with one of those moms that I know other people are, but I am not – a cool mom. This post is a shout out to this mom, LSS, her her little red head cutie of a son. Not too long ago we were “holidaying” with them and they introduced us to the wonderful world of Phil & Teds. When my “cool mom” friend asked me if I knew of their products I sheepishly said no. As I watched her easily put up the Phil & Teds Pack and Play or simply attach the Phil & Teds highchair to the counter, I realized I just might be missing something here. She had with her these two portable, sleek, and durable items which seemed to just “appear” from nowhere. After struggling with the bulky items we had brought with us, I knew that my little green eyed monster was spouting out as I longingly coveted each and every Phil & Teds item she had. So although we don’t own any yet, I know these might just have to make it onto Mom’s Favorite Wish-list!

A Cool Store for Very ‘Kool Kids’

July 20th, 2009

After reading about my “Wild Goose Chase for Toys Not Made in China” a friend referred me to a great online toy company called Oompa Toys. Most of their toys are made in the USA or Europe and have been strictly tested and the company tag-line reads “NO BATTERIES. NO BLINKING LIGHTS. NO CARTOON-THEMED TOYS. PERIOD.” They produce quality toys that are meant to stand the test of time and are especially concerned that toys should be of the highest quality, natural and safe. We applaud this sort of “counter-cultural” toy company for their efforts and we will be sure to add this company as one of mom’s favorites.

Mom’s Favorite New Mamma Treat

April 28th, 2009

One of my closest friends just had a baby and we were discussing some of the tricks to try and get some balance back in her life (don’t we all remember those days!). She was recalling the long baths she used to take in silence before those newborn baby whimpers began, and seemed convinced these would never return. To help remind her of those days, and the great ones ahead I found a Mom & Baby TLC Gift Set from Burt’s Bee and popped it at the front door. I love this company and trust their products, and know that this new mamma and her babe will hopefully get a bit of all natural TLC from this kit and some much needed pampering too.

The New Trends in High Chairs

July 21st, 2008

It has been a long time since we walked into a baby store, but we were in search for a new potty for our son (yes, I am sure you will all read about this soon enough). My husband and I stood in amazement at almost all of the products. We couldn’t believe how many of them seemed so “posh” compared to what was available when we had our baby two years ago. The high-chairs are a perfect example of this. The two that stood out as the most unique and apparently “high-tech” are both “award winners.” They were the Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair and the Boon Flair Pedestal Highchair with Pneumatic Lift.Though they both seemed expensive, we reminded ourselves that ours was over $200 and we were never particularly that happy with it. These seemed to be easy to clean, multi-functional, and good space savers.

Another One of Mom’s Favorite Crazy Toys

June 26th, 2008

We keep getting unique and slightly strange gifts from the Manhattan Toy Company but every single one is a hit in this family. One of these is a “flying saucer” toy, which although I am really not sure the purpose of, still keeps entertaining our toddler. It is either the color, texture, or shape, but this is a great toy to pull out of your purse or diaper bag when you just need to “borrow” a bit more time (and possibly quiet) from your child. Anything that stands the test of time, rough handling, and grubby hands, is a winner & favorite in this family!
